Job Title: Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant - Complex Primary Care
The University of Minnesota Physicians is seeking a part time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Primary Care Center (PCC) practice in Minneapolis, MN. The position will participate in primary care and complex care of adult medical patients in addition to providing acute care for episodic symptoms and conditions. The PCC is located in the M Health Fairview Clinics and Surgery Center (CSC) on the East Bank of the University of Minnesota campus, a state of the art ambulatory facility which opened in 2016.
In This Role, You Will:
Partner with 2-3 Internal Medicine physicians who are dedicated to providing complex patient care. Many of these patients also see subspecialists at the University of Minnesota and seek primary care within the same system. Will coordinate routine screening/preventive health care as well as chronic disease management and acute symptom evaluation and management. There will be an opportunity to build a smaller panel of your own patients if desired.
Work alongside experienced Internal Medicine physicians who are proficient in patient care, complex care, and teaching both internal medicine residents and advance practice provider students.
Be able to have a flexible schedule and the ability to work 3-7 pm and Saturday mornings.
Have access to a full panel of acute care labs and advanced diagnostic imaging seven days a week, with fast turnaround time for test results. Providers also have access to the Specialty Infusion and Procedure Center for patient care needs such as IV fluids.
Have access to subspecialists within the CSC building (Nephrology, Cardiology) which provides for in person and timely consultations on a regular basis to facilitate patient care.
Become a part of the University community including access to Grand Rounds and numerous teaching and learning opportunities.
Close proximity to campus for attendance at athletic events, musical performances, and other activities.
.65 FTE - 26 patient contact hours per week that includes 6, four hour blocks per week in clinic.
We schedule patients in four hour blocks from 7-11am, 11am-3pm and 3-7pm and every other Saturday from 8-12pm. Three shifts would be on a standing schedule and three shifts would be on a flex schedule, depending upon the availability of clinic space.
We're Looking For a PA or NP Who Is:
A graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or formal Adult Nurse Practitioner training program.
Eligible to be certified or is certified through NCCPA, ANCC or AANP.
Licensed or eligible to obtain a license and prescriptive authority through the MN Board of Medical Practice (PAs) or MN APRN license with prescriptive authority through the MN Board of Nursing (NPs).
Able to meet threshold criteria/qualifications for credentialing and privileges.
