The AVP Pediatrics position will lead Intermountain’s efforts to substantially enhance the health of children in the Desert Region (Nevada and Southern Utah) in alignment with our mission of Helping People Live the Healthiest Lives Possible. This is a senior level position tasked with leveraging their own experience, the experience of pediatric leaders throughout the system, and other regional and system thought leaders to build and operate a pediatric system of care in Las Vegas and throughout the Intermountain Desert Region. This leader will inform, refine and execute on the vision and strategy for all pediatric care across the entire continuum including as it relates to general pediatrics, pediatric sub-specialty care, acute care and community-based care (Population Health, Social Determinants, Clinically Intergrade Networks, Community Health). The AVP Pediatrics is accountable for the developing and maintaining new pediatric services through growth, partnerships, advocacy, and philanthropy while ensuring alignment, collaboration, and consistent implementation of operations across the region.
The AVP Pediatrics will report to the Desert Region President with close alignment to the system VP of Children’s Health and will serve as a key member of the Regional Leadership Team and the System Children’s Health Executive Team. As a member of these executive teams, this position is responsible for driving strategic planning, decision making, leadership, development, implementation, and managing all aspects of pediatric care in the region.
Scope
All Pediatric Care operations across Intermountain Healthcare’s Desert Region (Nevada and Southern Utah) including oversight of strategic vision, pediatric sub-specialty care, clinically integrated network development, pediatric community health, acute asset planning, government relations, and other support services.
Job Profile:
Refines and drives execution of the regional pediatric strategy.
Develops business plans for new pediatric programs that will drive toward long-term financial success of the service line.
Leads through vision and strategy, developing and supporting the implementation of shared goals and monitoring and evaluating outcomes. Develops and implements successful programs and strategies for a region-wide pediatric care model, working collaboratively with strategic partners to optimize the effectiveness of Pediatric clinical programs.
Leads the development and strategic alignment of pediatric care to address care gaps in the community, improve care coordination and outcomes, and increase the access to high quality pediatric services.
Builds effective partnerships with physicians and collaborates with medical staff in the evaluation and delivery of healthcare services and the development of mutually agreed upon clinical programs.
Develops operating models for pediatric services throughout the region including managing and collaborating on cross-regional implications.
Develops an academic partnership that supports Intermountain’s goals and the establishment of a robust pipeline of future pediatricians.
Collaborates with system leaders to ensure alignment of purpose and to establish, implement and achieve goals.
Review market trends, existing and potential organizational resources, regulatory impacts, financial analyses and statistical indicators to assess Intermountain’s competitive position in the development of planning strategies for targeted growth areas.
Acts as a role model for staff and encourages the incorporation of Intermountain’s Mission, Vision, and Values. Ensures that staff incorporates best practice standards into all aspects of service delivery.
Builds and maintains effective relationships with a wide range of constituencies and stakeholders, including but not limited to system leaders, board members, community leaders, national health care leaders and key business partners. Engages with these leaders to develop a shared vision of high-quality pediatric care and improved health of the children in the community.
Leads engagements to inform continued improvements and investments in pediatrics.
Accountable to oversee the successful management of regional service line revenue, expense, FTEs, and other budgeted items. Monitors the operations, standards of service, and promotes efficient and effective service based on current best practice standards. Facilitates collaborative problem solving among inter-departmental and inter-facility disciplines.
Role models and fosters an environment of professionalism and employee engagement across the enterprise. Responsible for creating an effective culture which ensures an engaged workforce. Creates, promotes, and maintains a culture where caregiver and customer/family input are valued and recognized.
Develops and communicates strategic direction and vision for pediatric services with region-wide strategic direction / vision. Manages the strategy deployment process. Supports ongoing relationships with community and national organizations. Serves as an ambassador of Intermountain Healthcare when interacting with members of the community(s) and national organizations.

Interfaces with colleagues to ensure alignment and engagement for system wide initiatives and to ensure appropriate resource allocation to meet goals, priorities, and deadlines within the health system's decision making and organizational structures.
Works to establish effective collaborative interdisciplinary and intradepartmental teams to establish a climate of exceptional care, patient & caregiver safety and promotion of pediatric services.
Minimum Qualifications
Master's Degree. Degree must be obtained through an accredited institution. Education is verified.
