This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. ["The RN practices within Patient Care Services for the CLC located in Miles City, MT for VA Montana Health Care System. The incumbent supports the mission and vision of the Healthcare System. The RN collaborates with nursing staff, the CLC Medical Director, and other interdisciplinary team members responsible for patient care as assigned and may act as the designated Charge Nurse on the unit. The nurse provides care and counseling of persons or in the promotion and maintenance of health and prevention of illness and injury based upon the nursing process which includes systematic data gathering, assessment, 2 appropriate nursing judgment, and evaluation of human responses to actual or potential health problems through such services as case finding, health teaching, health counseling; provision of care supportive to or restorative of life and well-being; and executing medical regimens including administering medications and treatments. This area serves critically ill adult and elderly Veterans requiring both short-stay and long-stay rehabilitative/restorative services. Patients often present with multiple chronic medical conditions and includes psychiatric components including age-related diseases such as Alzheimer's and dementia, and chronic diseases such as depression, bi-polar disorder, schizophrenia and substance abuse. Experience and/or training in gero-psychiatric care is preferred. The nurse's primary commitment is to the patient, whether an individual, family, group, or community (ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses). The nurse may be assigned to the Charge Nurse role for the unit after completing training and demonstrating\ncompetence.
