Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
Under the direction of Manager Plant Operations, assists in the development, implementation and advancement of a culture of environmental safety as it relates to the Environment of Care and site-specific Emergency Management programs.
Monitors the Environment of Care standards and regulations and provides technical support to hospital leadership to ensure compliance with all applicable compliance/accreditation agencies, non-enforcement agencies and federal enforcement agencies.
Conducts compliance audits and makes recommendations for improvements.
Communicates requirements to hospital department managers and monitors for compliance.
Compiles audit reports and maintains statistical data required for reporting to regulatory and accrediting agencies.
Conducts emergency preparedness drills and training sessions, gathers information and analyzes results. In collaboration with Manager Plant Operations and hospital leadership identifies safety and site emergency management training needs and develops / coordinates safety and site emergency management training programs.
Maintains the Accreditation Manager Plus (AMP) program and other databases as required. Provides input on the development of safety and site emergency management annual goals and objectives.
Bachelor degree in safety management, healthcare management, public health or related field, or the equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Three years of experience in industrial or healthcare safety, including at least one year of emergency management related experience with a background and understanding of the National Incident Management System (NIMS) and Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP).
Certified Healthcare Safety Professional (CHSP) preferred.
Working knowledge of Fire Safety, Hazardous Material Management, Safety Management, local and regional emergency preparedness.
Analytical ability to identify deficiencies and deviations from regulatory/accrediting standards, and to collect, analyze and report data. Ability to analyze statistical data in order to manage information for process improvements.
Verbal/written communication skills and interpersonal skills for routine contacts with internal and external customers/stakeholders to discuss, inform and provide instruction regarding regulatory standards applicable to healthcare.
