We are looking for a bright, talented and resourceful individual with exceptional clinical and communication skills to function as the Post-Baccalaureate Nurse Residency (PBNR) Program Director in the New York Harbor Healthcare System. The New York Harbor Healthcare System is a Level 1A tertiary care healthcare organization comprised of three campuses: two acute care medical centers and one Long Term Care Facility. VA-NYHHCS provides health care to New York City veteran population in Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island and is the VA referral center for the full range of cardiovascular and neurosurgical specialties. Performance measures show excellent results. We are actively recruiting for a Post-Baccalaureate Nurse Residency (PBNR) Program Director. He/she is accountable for multiple facets of education, training, and professional & organizational development within the larger strategy of promoting a learning culture across the VA-New York Harbor Health Care System (VA-NYHHCS). The PBNR Director is expected to exhibit leadership in professional nursing by serving on committees, providing mentorship to professional Nurses, student Nurses and Nurse residents and contribute to his/her own self development. This position is composed of an education component, unit specific competencies, and a performance component. Responsibilities include: Providing leadership, oversite, and coordination of the PBNR Program. Assessment, planning, design, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of the programs and program curricula Development, implementation and coordination of learning resources and monitoring of participant progress Providing support for faculty/preceptor and staff development Participating in selection and evaluation of faculty/preceptors Maintaining academic program records and the completion of an annual report of the program's accomplishments Collaborating with key stakeholders, disciplines and departments, internal and external to the VA-NYHHCS Preparing the logistics, documents, resources and staff preparation for CCNE accreditation Preferred Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of acute care clinical nursing practice in Medical/Surgical units (telemetry and ICU experience are preferred) with demonstrated skills in precepting, skills assessment, communication, and mentoring. Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association MSN Graduate of a doctorate program (PhD or DNP) or related field Simulation experience Clinical focus of acute care, critical care, emergency nursing, behavioral or community health Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) in adult, acute care, geriatrics, community health, behavioral health Minimum of 1-2 years' experience as nursing colligate faculty or clinical nurse educator required Strong working knowledge of Evidence Based Practice (EBP) Equal Opportunity Employer Work Schedule: to be discussed
