The primary purpose of the Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) Temple COVID Clinic is to perform assigned duties in a manner that promotes quality health care, position customer service and the maintenance of an environment committed to serving the veteran. The LVN performs under close supervision of the Nurse Manager or designee. Assigned tasks require basic technical competence and skill. Duties may include but are not limited to the following Performs and documents focused assessment and reports abnormal findings to the Charge Nurse, Nurse Manager and/or RN Team Leader. Within their scope of practice, effectively assigns, manages and directs other LVNs and Nurses' Aides in the delivery of patient/resident care Ability to recognize urgent and emergent patient care situations, seek assistance of the RN and/or provider and initiate appropriate emergency interventions as directed. Proficient in initiating, performing and completing assigned duties in providing care to variable patient populations. Appropriately carry out assigned patient care based on the patients conditions. Administers oxygen therapy Medication administration to include IV medication if certified Completes clinical reminders with appropriate consults and alerts as indicated= Ensures medications/supplies are not expired and removed from inventory Accurately performs delegated procedures and treatments Assists with minor procedures, including obtaining and arranging necessary equipment, positioning patient, ensuring comfort and privacy. EKG, lab draws Data collection and documentation intervention of patient visit in applicable nursing note. Based on the patient's goals, reinforces patient and family health education, to include self-management, prevention and wellness. Assists in medication reconciliation. Notifies the provider of changes. Measures, records vital signs and enters them in CPRS. Reports all significant deviations to the RN and/or health care provider immediately. Initiates patient calls and patient care follow-up in accordance with facility policy. Safeguards patient privacy and maintains confidentiality of all electronic and printed patient information according to HIPAA guidelines, the Privacy Act, and as stated in the Medical Center Memo on ADP Security. Demonstrates basic skill in identifying the individual's level of understanding and teaching the client and/or significant other about the basic concepts to his/her disease process, utilizing the standards of care and documenting client's response. Completes annual nursing mandatory reviews and continuous learning requirements. Complies with infection control practices, such as hand washing and wearing of appropriate personal protective equipment. Adheres to Safe Patient Handling practices for safe body mechanics, use of mechanical devices, and/or requests help when needed in moving, lifting, or turning patients to prevent injury to patient, self or others. Preferred Experience: BLS 2-3 years of current experience as an LPN/LVN Direct Patient Care Experience Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 0730-1600 Financial Disclosure Report: Not required
