Under the general supervision of the Senior Vice President-Strategy and Market Development, the VP Community Health & Engagement leads the system in developing and implementing community health, community partnership and volunteer strategies to support WellSpan’s vison, mission and plan. This role provides executive oversight of Community Health, Coalition and Volunteer Engagement functions across the system, creating a working-as-one organizational structure and culture which engages our communities, citizens and health system in working together to create both short and long-term impacts on complex issues which impact health.
Serves as champion for WellSpan’s community-based social determinant of health strategies, working in collaboration with the Senior Director, Case Management and Medical Director, Vulnerable Population.
Serves as champion for volunteerism – providing executive oversight of a program to engage volunteers into WellSpan, and opportunities for WellSpan leaders and team to volunteers in the community.
Ensures system-wide strategic alignment and operational excellence community benefit administration, reporting, and compliance. This includes ensuring completion of community health needs assessment and plan every three years by regulation; engaging boards, leaders and external stakeholders in understanding findings and priorities.
Develops an integrated organizational structure ensuring Community Health Improvement Plan strategy, goals, and plans align with system strategy.
Leads, communicates with, and engages community health and volunteer engagement leaders toward a common vision.
Develops community partnership strategy, ensuring strong local relationships are cultivated and health coalitions utilize collective impact models to engage community and drive change.
Develops strong processes for assigned community health grant programs.
Seeks to continually understand regional/local community needs, best practices and opportunities and elevates them in the organization.
Works collaboratively and engages WellSpan leaders and teams in community health activities.
Manages employees through subordinates, usually other managers. Establishes performance goals, allocates resources and assesses policies for direct subordinates. Provides orientation, training, and continuing education of employees in area(s) of responsibility.
Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.
Minimum 10 years of experience in health administration, public health, and community relations
