The Patient Placement RN serves as the liaison between the referring providers, hospitals, clinics and the Geisinger Health System. The Placement RN demonstrates excellent customer service skills while facilitating the exchange of clinical patient information and coordinating urgent/emergent, inpatient transfers to GMC, GWV, GSACH, GCMC and GBH.
The Patient Placement RN understands a broad spectrum of patient medical conditions and pathophysiology.
The Patient Placement RN works in collaboration with referring and accepting physicians to facilitate effective and efficient transfers of patients between health care facilities. The Patient Placement RN works with attending physicians and inpatient unit charge nurses to facilitate timely and appropriate bed placement in accordance with establisted level of care and patient aggregation criteria.
The Patient Placement RN manages the inpatient flow of patients from preadmission and admission, through the time of discharge. The Patient Placement RN efficiently optimizes the utilization of inpatient beds for the Geisinger Health System in collaboration with the physician, Patient Access, Utilization Management, Nursing and Care Management staff.
Responsible for ensuring the very best patient/family experience by optimizing all customer interaction. Foster a positive work environment through mutual support and cooperation and adheres to GHS and unit specific Service Standards.
The Patient Placement RN reports to the Director of Operations for Patient Placement / Transfer Center.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Pennsylvania. Bachelor of
Science degree preferred.
Minimum of three to five years of clinical nursing experience required. Critical Care experience preferred.
